ACT X Edomae Goes On

The Master says,

“Edomae.”

Feels like we've heard that before.

And indeed we have.

Ten acts later,

we arrive where we began.

The fish has not changed.

Time has.

Care has.

Meaning has.

Then the Master smiles,

just a little,

and says it once more.

“Edomae.”

Sukeroku’s Note:

Edomae is not a historical style preserved behind glass.

It is a living practice, renewed daily by markets, craftsmen, chefs, and producers.

Its spirit survives not in the fish itself,

but in the way it is handled,

and in the time given to it.
